"Blood Red Roses", le 30ème album studio de Rod, est sorti fin septembre 2019. Ecrit et produit avec la collaboration de Kevin Savigar, cet album est la suite logique de "Time" en 2013 et "Another Country" en 2015. Rod nous ballade au gré de son écriture, souvent très personnelle et nostalgique ("Didn't I" et "Farewell"), parfois joyeuse et drôle ("Hole in My Heart" et Look In Her Eyes"), ici un clin d'œil au son Tamla Motown ("Rest of My Life"), là un disco d'enfer ("Give Me Love") , un retour aux sources avec la reprise de "Rollin & Tumblin", un titre folkorique très enjoué qui prête son nom à l'album, et quelques inévitables ballades comme Rod sait les interpréter "Cold Old London". Un bon cru qui permet à Rod d'atteindre la 1ère place des charts anglais et irlandais dès la première semaine de sa sortie.

"Blood Red Roses", Rod's 30th studio album, came out at the end of September 2018. Written and produced with the collaboration of Kevin Savigar, this album is the logical continuation of "Time" in 2013 and "Another Country" in 2015. Rod is walking us according to his writing, often very personal and nostalgic ("Did not I "and" Farewell "), sometimes funny and happy (" Hole in My Heart "and "Look In Her Eyes"), here a nod to the Tamla Motown sound ("Rest of My Life"), then a disco from hell ("Give Me Love"), a return to basics with the cover of "Rollin & Tumblin", a very folkloric title that lends its name to the album, and a few inevitable ballads like Rod knows to interpret them ("Cold Old London"). A good vintage that allows Rod to reach the 1st place of the English and Irish charts in the first week of its release.

«La plupart de ces chansons ont été enregistrées transatlantiques», explique Stewart, choisissant principalement d’enregistrer avec son groupe lors de ses tournées. «Tout était fait dans les chambres d'hôtel ou dans les coulisses après les concerts. Nous restions quelques heures et si nous en avions envie, nous faisions des enregistrements. C’est un excellent moyen de faire un disque. Cela signifie que vous n'êtes pas bloqué dans un espace pendant des mois. Nous ne nous sommes jamais vraiment approchés d'un studio d'enregistrement traditionnel, ce qui est, à mon avis, excellent. J’ai passé trop d’années dans des studios ennuyeux, je ne voulais pas y être. Je pense toujours que je fais des albums pour quelques amis, et cet album a cette intimité. ”

“Most of these songs were recorded trans-Atlantic,” Stewart explains, opting mostly to record with his band while on tour. “It was all done in hotel rooms or backstage after concerts. We’d stay behind for a couple of hours and if we were in the mood we’d do some recording. It’s a great way to make a record. It meant that you’re not locked in one space for months on end. We never really went near a traditional recording studio which I think was great. I’ve spent too many years locked in dull studios, not wanting to be in there. I always think I make albums for a few friends, and this record has that intimacy.”
